panasonic dvd recorder error code u80 Absecon, New Jersey

I won't get another Panasonic - their instruction manuals are dreadful. Recently fitted a new digital aerial and good quality cable but still the same. disc player play blu ray... Switch into standby & back on again & it clears, with no apparent effect on operation, so I'm not losing any sleep over it.

Does it sound plausible? A pull of the mains power usually sorts this, but the number of U80 errors are becoming quite frequent on my box now. I have re-tuned the whole system 7 times and it still is happening, also the picture goes wabbily and had to disconnect from the mains and restart it. I have 2 machines and one has an aerial which brings in few stations - never seen U80 on this one!Why the secrecy at Panasonic? So far so good. Clem Clem View Public Profile Visit Clem's homepage!

The fault varies - but I'm convinced it's related to the Aerial or to Freeview or to the Tuner itself. Since then, 6 days ago, and having made about 5 recordings a day to test it - I have had zero U80 problems.

Mend it How can I fix my Fiat Punto? We have given up and bought a new machine Reply to this post Permalink | Report abuse Do you think this post adds to the discussion? To clarify, U80 indicates either that poor quality or damaged discs are being used or that the laser is failing. I had enough of this so I called the company that I bought it from and now having a replacement, Panasonic was not any help.

I just switch off for a few seconds and switch it back on works every time . I did this because I was finding that after I put the unit on after it went U80 the device was telling me tht new channels were available. I suspect it might be due to a fault on the hard drive. I hope this works for others.

Dont have to unplug it just switch it off . My Panny E60s been acting up and not recording some programmes - just going dead. Do you? Reply to this post Permalink | Report abuse Do you think this post adds to the discussion?

[email protected] 2008 Top i am having the same problem - e-mailed panasonic and got exactly the same answer - word for word makes you wonder how many times they have replied The wall switch is now taped over in the "on" position!! Repeated the above procedure, including the re-scan and we're back in business. During this process the product will lock up "freeze", and the U80 error message is displayed.

Like you putting it in and out of standby always cleared it. I think that tells you something about this mode. It has now ceased to respond at all. This is not an inherent fault with the product but a guide for the engineer to know where, within the product, he should seek the cause of the problem. Thanks. Other times the picture hiccups and recovers but does not go into U80. First time? U81 means (in technical terms) 'microprocessor communication malfunction' on the universal asynchronous receiver/transmitter' or 'microprocessor feedback information error'. Any clues?

But today started to go back to its bad U80 days!
