I don't think it was anything special, but it was intended for electronic equipment.

I also have the same identical problem....I wonder if the money I spent for this was really worth it...It seems like these things are plagued with problems... I like to try to manually fix stuff before trying to figure out how to recycle and then buy a new electronic item.
